ASUS P320 My Comments

Its has been more than two weeks I am attached to All new ASUS P320 PDA phone. I would say Asus as a new entrant in India Mobile market has done well with this product.

To go on with the merits

  • It is sleekest windows mobile in the market till now
  • Aesthetics is good.
  • It operates on windows mobile 6.1 O.S, most HTC's at this range doesn't have 6.1
  • GPS receiver adds value. GPS when used with Google maps is a wonder for first timers.
  • Windows live update, connect to the internet and update. I have not yet used this feature yet.
  • Price,Its close to 13k

.....and the Demerits

  • One of the greatest problem I have seen with the phone till now is, when it is in sleep, sometimes , sleeps for ever :(. Yes on a stanby-mode it is not able to receive signals. I have obsereved this behaviour with my phone 4 or 5 time within 2 weeks and I am not sure if any of the other users also face similar problems.
  • Alarm is so weird. It rings as it likes :( 2 times happened till now.
  • So flimsy, may not withstand fall-downs. Till now it din't happen.
  • As with all Windows mobile its response is slow
  • ASUS today screen can't show time in multiple formats
The Verdict:
I would say its a deal, worth money provided not all mobiles has demerit 1 mentioned. For first timers this is a best PDA . I am analyzing the problem, hope a firmware reinstallation would solve the problem. let me know if anyone has similar problem.

My Aversion for "Salt Biscuits"

Something in life never get away from our thoughts, the incident I am to describe here is one such thing, which created a strong dislike in me for "Salt Biscuits"
here it goes,
I remember, it was when I am studying 6th standard, one fine late morning may be around 11 AM , just the peak hour traffic on roads were settling down and we all were inside the class room of 6th "B" killing time, desparately waiting for bell .Peon came inside the class room and gave a piece of paper to the staff, mam read out "R.K you are wanted in the office room". At those time getting call from office during class hours was great news of concern. Apprehensively, I went along with the peon to office. There I saw my father speaking with my class teacher, and I got to know that there is some deimise of unknown gradmom and that we need to leave to our native immedieately.
so the plan is, I will leave homewith my dad, from there take a taxi to our native which is some 100 km away.
so I set out of school with my dad around noon. on the way home we stopped in a tea stall thinking to have some snacks, as we can't have lunch.that day or atleast, lunch on time.
me and my dad took tea with "Salt Biscuts". we are done with our snacks. we kick started our scooter from bakery and from there to reach our house which is hardly a km away, we need to cross a main road, just some 200 M away from bakery and with in 5 mins, when we were crossing the main road, all that I can hear was a Big Thud and BANG and I am falling from the scooter somewhere on the main road with my bag at my back. "!!***^&#$#$*^@%" I can't see anything , there is pain on my back, I want to shout and cry but I can't , I know there were many bruises , within a couple of minutes there is barf all around me, the nausea of salt biscuits, I can feel it inside my nose. A mini van has hit our sccoter from back .
After that I woke up in a hospital , and from then on I developed a strong avesion for "Salt Biscuits".

Singara Chennai

Date : 16th March 2008
Time : Just Dawn

Posh KPN a/c Bus from Bangalore came to a halt, cleaner shouting kathipara, Guindy, CMBT . Its time for me to get down. with Auto walas as Valets  I got down the bus. After a dicker(Which I long forgot when I came to Bangalore),took an auto to adyar, the place I am put up.
Chennai ... the place I am back after three years. There are differences, lot of new buildings , better roads, better slang of language, typical tricycles, it was nice I felt good.

After gobbling the Breakfast from homely Guest house, set out to meet my Friends who are once "Close", now becoming "Old" from "Close". Had very nice time with them. went to CITI Center to catch up a movie but couldn't make it. Evening was spent in Besant Nagar Beach, with most of Aunties, Uncles, Grandpas and Grandmas, socializing.

To Office:
It was very great to take an auto again not without having a bargain, spoke to the security in lovable lovely Thamizh, getting clearance was a cake walk . Office was very posh as its a new and also which symbolizes the growth of chennai.

In short had nice time there, partying with my friends, and the verdict ...

I like chennai.

The Pilgrimage snaps

Srini - the great, the man who is a catalyst for fun being all around. A rare picture(you can never see him without a mush :) ) taken at the start of trip.

Serene view, on the way to Thirumala..

pictures taken with my 6230i

one more from Kali Gopuram ..

An interseting shot,
a Govt Bus parked in "NO Parking" area, inspite of cautioning a fine of 500 Bucks ... thing prevalent in India,

A little insight would reveal the lethargy of the authorities and carelessness of drivers.

as a point of note, there were many violations like this in and around thirumala.
